AMWA MXF Summit in London
Brad Gilmer's presentation at the 13 November Summit can be viewed at MXF Mastering Format Project. Additional presentations for Members only can be viewed at AMWA Meetings London Nov 2007.
Our mission is to promote the development and adoption of open, accessible
standards and specifications relating to file-based workflows (including
AAF, MXF and other formats), Service Oriented Architectures, and Application
Specifications; to promote such Specifications worldwide, and to create high
customer awareness of, demand for, and confidence in products designed in
compliance with these specifications. We will focus on content creation,
production, post-production, rich media authoring, archiving and
distribution. We will maintain relations with, and work with standards
developed by, other standard setting organizations and industry consortia to
ensure coherence among the Specifications maintained by the Corporation and
standards maintained by such other organizations.
See the AMWA At a Glance flyer (pdf, 2.1Mb) for a quick overview of the association. It can be downloaded and printed for distribution to those interested in joining the organization.
Incorporated in January 2000, the AAF Association, Inc. is a broadly-based trade association intended to promote the development and adoption of AAF technology throughout the media industry. With representatives from several major players in the industry, the AAF Association intends to help deliver the full benefits of digital media to content creators including film, television, Internet and post-production professionals. Further details of the organization can be found in AAFA History.
The Advanced Authoring Format (AAF) is a multimedia file format that enables content creators to easily exchange digital media and metadata across platforms, and between systems and applications. The AAF simplifies project management, saves time, and preserves valuable metadata that was often lost when transferring media between applications in the past.
The Executive Director of the AAF Association is industry veteran, Brad Gilmer. Founding members of the association are Avid, the BBC, CNN, Discreet, Ascent Media, Matrox, Microsoft, Pinnacle, Quantel, Sony, Turner Entertainment Networks, and the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (formerly National Imaging and Mapping Agency).
